Evidence and Property Pickup
To pick up property you must present the following (see FIREARMS section if you are retrieving a firearm):
- Valid Picture Identification: A CURRENT driver’s license, state issued ID, military ID, passport, or school ID.
- A copy of property notification letter mailed by KSU Police Evidence Manager.
- A completed Property Transfer Receipt.
To pick up SOMEONE ELSE’S PROPERTY you must present the following:
- Valid Picture Identification: A CURRENT driver’s license, state issued ID, military ID, passport, or school ID.
- Notarized Authorization Letter from owner: Must include owner’s name, the person authorized to pick up and a complete description of property to be picked up.
- A completed Property Transfer Receipt.
FIREARMS
INDIVIDUALS PICKING UP A FIREARM MUST FIRST UNDERGO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Prior coordination with the Evidence Manager is required.
Per O.C.G.A. 16-11-131 and 18 U.S.C. 922(g), firearms CANNOT be returned if any of the following apply:
- You are a convicted felon
- You have outstanding arrest warrants
- You have a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction
- You are the subject of an Order of Protection
- You are under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Deemed by any court to have a mental defect.
All individuals requesting to pick up a firearm will fill out a Firearm Return Form and submit via email to evidence@kennesaw.edu.
Individuals with a Criminal Trespass Order will need written permission from the Chief prior to pick up.
